Dell Mini 9 Launched

We woke up and we already have the news. Even at dawn in the United States, Dell has already made its official Dell Mini 9, its ultraportable. At last we could think… but as I commented in Spain still have to wait. On the web at Dell for Spain there is no information about it.
Basically, Dell 9 Mini comes in two versions with Ubuntu and Windows XP, with prices starting at 350 and 450 U.S. dollars respectively, and have different characteristics. On the one hand, the portable base with Ubuntu has only 512 MB RAM and 4 GB SSD capacity, while the computer with Windows XP has 1 GB of RAM (the same type, DDR2) and 8 GB SSD, plus a integrated 1.3 megapixel webcam and Bluetooth 2.0. The latter two characteristics can also be implemented in the model with Ubuntu, but paying a higher price. In both cases, the processor is an Intel Atom N270 to 1.6 GHz.
Focusing in a little personalization of the device, in both cases you can select a color black (default) or white, having to pay 25 dollars for the latter. As for disc, there are options 4, 8 and 16 GB, and in the memory as much as allowing install from factory is 1 GB. Add Bluetooth to version 2.1 with Ubuntu, which is not what brings series would have to pay 20 dollars, and the webcam (not included in the version with Linux, it brings the Windows) would cost 15 or 25 dollars, depending on if we choose the camera of 0.3 or 1.3 megapixels.
I’ve done a budget of a fast Dell Mini 9 based on the model with Ubuntu, with 1 GB of RAM, increase up to 16 GB of SSD, 1.3 megapixel webcam and Bluetooth 2.1. In total is priced at 494 dollars. Not brings extras such as additional collateral or peripherals, but I have limited solely to improve the entire internal hardware.
494 dollars is an interesting price for an ultraportable with these characteristics. The Dell Mini 9 is also the first ultra-configurable, and although the options are not as extensive as in a normal laptop, is grateful for the opportunity to choose some components.
In Spain, as already discussed, we do not know anything, whereas in other countries in Europe it seems that the computer will be launched: for example, in UK and Germany, where the price starts at 369 euros… (1 euro = famous exchange 1 Dollar).
Let’s wait a few hours to see if there is something new or important news, and then offer you an entry much more enlarged on the new ultraportable Dell.
